If an cc has been charged off and is past SOL for my state, why do some reports show recent balance as of 8/2010? The other acct shows the date of charge off 7/2010. Is there a correct way for these to be showing on my report? Next question, cc that have been charged off and past the SOL , how much of an impact do they have on a FICO score and at what rate do they begin to have less of impact? Thank You
SOL has nothing to do with how long something stays on your reports, or what impact negative information has on your scores.
To add, reporting is based on the FCRA (federal law) and baddies typically can report monthly for the full 7-7.5 yrs. And even if CRTP (the 7 yrs) and SOL expire, they can still collect forever.
ETA...the damage varies based on your report, but typically it gradually fades over the 7 yrs. Some have seen 50+ gains when their last baddie is removed due to CRTP.
