My wife and I are trying to clean up her credit report so we can buy a house, and I noticed something very odd with one account which she says she knows she had paid off in full each month (in cash at the store's retail location).
All three bureaus show the staus as "Collection/Chargeoff" but in my tri-merge credit report from TrueCredit (each bureau is reporting it on a separate line), TransUnion has nothing listed for late payments, Equifax shows 0 30-day lates, 0 60-day lates and 43 90-day lates. Experian shows 0 for for each.
In order to be 90 days late, wouldn't you have to first be 30, then 60 days late? There is one account with a single 120-day late, which I could see happening if the creditor said "we won't report you until you're 120 days late" but does 0, 0, and 43 make any sense?
I am planning to DV the account (it's still with the OC) as soon as I hear back from Equifax about my dispute. Both Experian and TransUnion have come back confirmed.
