Chargeoff and Collection

I have a charged off credit card that is about fall off my credit report in June.   Will the corresponding Collection fall off too or do I need to wait 7 years from the time the account was sold to the collection agency.

Hi there.

Both CO's and collections can report for up to 7.5 years from the DoFD (Date of First Delinquency) on the OC account that led to the CO or collection. Neither can stay longer than the 7.5 years so both should be gone about the same time.

+1

Take a peek at FCRA 605(c), which affixes the date of both CO and CA deletions at the same date of 7 years plus 180-days from the same date-certain DOFD on the OC account.

Re: Chargeoff and Collection

Thanks for the Help there were no dates on the charge off and I was wondering how long it could legally stay on my report.
