Luckily it was served in Ohio where we currently are, and in our current county. So getting there shouldn't be hard.
And yes, yes, she doesn't want it to go away, she wants to make arrangements to pay, she just needs to figure out how to get that process going. At least we now have some good news! Thank you so much.
She was served then?
If she was served and a judgment entered in Ohio, then moved to GA, the attorney was correct in being unable to collect out of state. If she has returned to Ohio, the attorney can again collect.
I would contact the attorney again and ask about it. Tell them she is back in OH.,
I need to be more careful with my words. I mean "served" as in all of the official judgement business is happening here, she's still saying she didn't receieve any notice to appear in court, or anything that would make it an official "serving", I assume.
She's told them she's back here but since she is not an official Ohio resident they will not do any business with her. That is where the Chase circle of death comes in.
MAN!!! My head is spinning on this one. She lives back in Ohio where this all took place but she is still a GA resident?
Lol. It is getting much clearer now.
How long does it take to become a legal resident of Ohio?

She would be until she meets the minimum standards for residency. Could be 2 months, could be 6 months.
LOL yes all very confusing to me too! That's why I came to talk to the forum experts
.
As far as her becoming a resident here, she's saying that is not an option because her car and insurance are under her step-mothers name, who resides in Georgia. If she were to change everything over she'd have to change everything to her name, which her parents do not want her to do. I'm trying to convince her otherwise, this seems like it'd be way easier if she could deal with the attorneys who are handling everything now.
I am not aware of any state you can have your car registered in another state without being a member of the military.
Most states only give you so much time to change it.
Is she going to work in Ohio?
She's currently working in Ohio. She's techincally a vet of the Navy & her father is in the Air Force so I don't know if that would help at all.
No, she has to be active duty. Her dad"s status doesn't matter.
