Morning, Fico family.
If a debt is resold to multiple different collections in a few years, will each time cause a collection entry on my credit report? If so, will each collection entry lower my fico score dramatically? Or after some time, there is not much damage will arise from this, no matter how many times one debt gets resold?
One of CA is being very difficult and refuses to give a settlement in writing. I am left with the option of doing nothing till it gets to a new CA or pays in full. It is charged off, over 10000, OC owns the debt, CA collects.
Happy Friday.
Not necessarily. A CA collecting on behalf of an OC CAN report if they choose to, but they don't have to. Same goes for a CA that buys a debt from an OC. They can report if they wish, but not all do (most do, though). By law, though, a CA must delete their TL from your reports if they no longer have collection authority (usually meaning they sold the debt). So it's not like you'd have multiple CAs reporting for the same account at the same time. The only way that can happen is when an OC retains ownership of the debt and is reporting while their CA collecting for them is also reporting.
Thank you so much , hearing this making me feel a lot better .
Generally speaking , if I only have one charge off ,one collection unpaid on my report , and all other charge off is settled with OC , can I rebuild to a decent or fair score over a couple years ?
Or so long that one charge off, possibly plus one collection, remains on my credit unpaid, all my other rebuilding efforts would barely improve my score?
You can rebuild and increase scores to a certain point (I wouldn't be able to tell you what your "ceiling" is, since everyone's profile is different), but as long as negatives, especially ones as bad as COs/CAs remain, scores will still be suppressed to a certain extent.
Thank you for your constant help. @OmarGB9
I will update my profile once the dust settles, hopefully, I can get better ideas at that time.
Have a good weekend.
