Collection Help

I had an account open back in Jan 2015 for an original amount of $2,332 from a University. Since then the account was sent to a collection agency and he current balance is $3,329. I finally have enough money to pay off the collection! However, I have a few questions before I do...

1) Is there any way to pay the original amount of $2,332 and get it taken off my reports?

2) Even if i pay the new balance or original balance how do I go about getting the collection of my reports?

Right now these are my only two questions before I pay off my debt. I may have more once I get some replies but thank you in advance!

Re: Collection Help

Paying the debt will not require deletion of any prior reporting of derogs.

You can make the debt collector a pay for deletion offer, which if accepted, will result in their agreement to report deletion of their collection.

Re: Collection Help

Is the pay for deletion usually successfull? Since this would result in the collection being deleted does this mean all the derogatories and everything that came with that collection would be off the reports as well?

Re: Collection Help

I'm not sure anyone can give you any statistical data when it comes to PFD, it seems like they are hit or miss depending on the CA.
