Question for you....I paid that Eversource bill to a collection agency. It was not being reported by a collection agency, only by Eversource, but when I called to lay it they said I had to pay the collection agency...which I did in full. I received a payment receipt in the mail pretty quickly but Eversource still hasn't updated it on my credit report. It's been 40 days exactly.
my question is per the FCRA how long do they have to report it? I tried to search it but I just couldn't find anything.
thank you for any insight you can share!
@Thefallgirl thank goodness it was not being reported as a collection or that would've harmed your score more. A collection agency does not have to report it.
To answer your question, sometimes it takes a couple cycles/months to be fully updated. If I recall correctly, they are supposed to "promptly" update it and it falls under the reasonableness standard.
So I don't think there is an exact time limit but I would at least give it 60 days before I became too concerned, tho you can make contact and inquire.
I'm going to ping @RobertEG just to verify, as he is definitely more versed in these matters and if there is a time limit he can tell us, but I'm pretty sure I recall reading where he taught us it was under the reasonableness Standard.
Thanks @Anonymous !
Just curious, did the CA get deleted yet off your Experian? If so how much of a score boost did you get?
I like seeing success stories..........
Nothing yet @Aspireto850 ! It's going on 7 weeks and Eversource still has not reported the payment!. When I called to pay it Eversource referred me to a CA, which it was not being reported by the CA...just Eversource. They promptly sent me a receipt.
so I am (im)patiently watching for the payment to post to my CR. Not sure if I should dispute it or what. I'm thinking if I dispute it there may be that small chance that it could get removed from my CR vs bringing it to thier attention they'll just report it as paid. From
what I've read they do not delete...period.
@Aspireto850 I just came in to tell you Eversource reported but I realize now that is not what you were asking me.
yes, the CA for the Sprint bill did drop off my CR. 🎊
