It should drop at ~7 years from DOFD, not from the date it was placed for collection.

Re: Collection account due to drop off this month. TU estimation, how accurate?

Once the debt collector reported their collection to the CRA, they were requred to have provided the CRA with the DOFD on the OC account within 90 days.

The reported DOFD, and that date alone, sets the running of the 7 yr plus 180 day period for exclusion of the reported collection.

The CR does not provide the reported DOFD, but apparently it was approx 7 years ago, and is coming up for exclusion.

The 7 yrs plus 180 days from DOFD exclusion date sets the max date after which the CRA will be in violation of the FCRA if they issue any credit report containing the collection.

The CRAs can choose to exclude earlier, and often do so as to avoid any possible vioation of the max exclusion date.

Thus, estimated dates of exclusion dont define a specific or required exclusion date.
