Collection agency is flagging my account every 2 weeks

So a collection agency has been reporting one my account as collections since begining of January. My score dropped but I don't care as it's temporary (the account should fall off at the end of the year or so). Thing is, ever since I've been getting notifications every 2 weeks, so I got an additional 2 more notifications, at the middle of Jan and now. All say "... has flagged your account as Collections on Jan 26, 2022." Do they actively report something every two weeks to stress me out? Everytime I get emails from Chase credit journey and Capital one credit monitoring and I log in and see it, but there's nothing new. I mean, no new account, just same notification referring to the same account. Are they doing it on purpose?

Yup, And they can do it every two weeks for 7 years. Companies will use these tactics to get you to pay. When they update it every two weeks, it will have the maximum negative effect to your credit report as possible. Typically, the only way to stop the updates if it's a legitimate account is by paying it off or settling. The account will then start to age and affect your score less as time goes on. -Sorry and Good Luck.

Oh, I see. So that's what they're doing. They didn't contact me at all when they bought the debt, they just put a collection on my report, I guess it's a strategy that's supposed to make me contact them. Not going to happen!

The 7 year mark is just few months away so yes, they can report it every two weeks as far as I care. I'll just disregard those emails.

The fact that they report it again and again doesn't change my FICO score, but maybe it prevents it from slowly recovering? Who knows.

Luckily, I don't intend to apply to anything in the next few months so it really doesn't mattter to me.

BTW, I read that paying off debt doesn't automatically get a collection account off your credit report. It's an extra step a credior is willing to make and it's up to them. I'm just waiting those few months out and was just wondering why I keep getting 3 notfications a month (when it was added a the begining of the month, then a notification on Jan 14 and then a notification today). Thanks for the advice!
