First, I'd like to say what a blessing this site has been to me. I've been working on my credit scores for a few months now, and I've learned so much since I found this forum. I thought I would have to accept my 30 days late from one of my creditors for seven years. (5-yr customer, thought I had PIF that month, didn't, never opened statement till I tried to charge) I had never heard of a GW letter until myfico forum. Sent the letter. They deleted it! So thanks for that!
Anyway, I have a question about when an item should drop off your CR. I have a paid collection which first became deliquent in April 2002. But I didn't pay it until 2005 -- which I still think is inaccurate but they claim it is right. So does the 7 years begin in 2005 or 2002 when it was first reported?
7-7 1/2 years from the date it went delinquent.
Unless you live in NY, then it is 5 years from the date it went delinquent-- if it is paid.
I would try to GW it off.

Does this alsoinclude Medical Collections? I have at least three medical accounts that i will be paying off next week. I have started the HIPPA process but if the 5 year collection account for NY will work, then they should come off soon.
