Hello everyone!
So I've been rebuilding my credit, still have some derogatories on my report and upon increasing my limit on a few credit cards, I noticed the reporting date for two of my collection accounts from five years ago has changed. Basically, I received a notification stating "Payment history changed, The April 2014 payment for an account was updated from 150 days late to 120 days late". Here is the thing, I have never made a payment for any of these accounts. Why are two of my old accounts reporting someting different to the credit bureaus? Are they trying to re-age the debt or are they simply trying to make my score drop by changing around the dates like this?
Any adivce would be greatly appeciated.
Are you referring to the account with the original creditor, or the collection reported by the debt collector?
Update of the payment history profile from 150-late to 120-late does not involve any reference to the making of a payment.
It refers to the fact that the account is delinquent, and 120 to 149 days had expired that month from the date of initial delinquency on the account. It is actually beneficial to update their reporting to show a shorter period of delinquency for that month.
Can you post a screen shot of the payment history profile before and after update?
