I have a collection on my CR w/ IC systems that I have been ignoring for years. It only appears on my TU. It is for $285 for an account w/ KinderCare, which provided day care for my kids. I am not sure what the DOFD is but it was placed for collection on 9/13/10. I am not sure what SOL applies since this was in california and I now live in IL. Anyhow, I disputed this account a while back (years probably) because although I did use their services, I am not positive I owe them any money at all. All transactions needed to be in DH's name since he was receiving a day care subsidy from the military. I want to get this removed and I have been advised that I should send a DV. However, I am afraid that if I send a DV and it comes back validated, the CA will refuse to PFD. Should I just PFD even though I am not sure I owe this much money?
Thanks in advance!
I would try a DV first because there is always a chance that the CA is unable to verify the debt and it is subsequently removed, especially if you are not certain you owe that amouny. Then I would work on a PFD. They have worked well for me in the past at getting items removed. I think it is worth a shot.

Thanks for your reply Loques! I guess I am just afraid of pissing them off and then making things worse! But you are right I shouldn't pay all that money if I am not sure its what I in fact owe...
As suggested send the DV. The SOL unless your state has special rules on medical collections is going to be a written contract. The SOL that will apply is the state you are living in, judges dont like to allow any other states SOL in their courtrooms unless it has already run in another state.

Well its not a medical collection but good to know which SOL applies. It kind of stinks because in IL the SOL is 10 years while in california its 4! Maybe I should move back there! lol... Good thing I can PIF just in case... Thanks for your reply gdale6.
I just got done dealing with IC systems for an AT&T bill from awhile back that I didn't believe I owed because there wasn't a balance when I closed the account. Anyways I sent a DV which came back validated. It was only $85 which isn't much but I didn't want to pay something that I wasn't responsible for. Either way I called them up, they accepted my PFD. They did say they will not delete if you settle the account, only if you pay in full. I don't think my DV ticked them off. Hope this helps.
P.S. The lady I spoke with was very nice - probably the nicest and easiest CA to work with IMO.
If it is only being reported on Transunion, I would dispute it online with them as no longer liable. It should delete within a few days.
