Hi, I've recently come into an $1000 that I'd like to use to work with my credit. I have two collections accounts. One from Living Debt for 1300 (captial one) the other is with Debt Recovery Solution for about 600 (US cellular). I recently contacted DRS and tried to work out a settlement for pay to delete. I was rudly denied and told that the best they could do was 25% of the debt and mark it as partially settled...I was hoping to receive a bit of direction as to what my next steps should be. The debt is showing up as opened in 2012 so it's going ot be on my Credit for awhile. Also, I did make an attempt about a year ago to disupute the claim online...the dispute failed and they added to the notes. Any help you guys could provide would be fantastic. I'm guessing my next steps would be to send a PTD letter but would that be effective now that I've showed my hand?
Thanks in advance!
Have you made them an offer for the full amount of the debt, or was your prior offer a lowball settlemnt offer that also requested CR deletion?
I'm afraid it was the ladder(I called them and tried low ball them and get CR deletion). I went in blindly and didn't perform research like I should have. To make it worse, I asked to speak to a manager which is why I'm concerned that I screwed myself. This being said, would you or anyone have any recommendations for next steps? Any help would be appreciated
Make a new offer to pay in full, contingent upon credit report deletion.
That changes your offer from a request for two concessions on their part to only one.
