Correcting errors and giving up

Every time I dispute they get even more info wrong for all 3 reports. Is it best to just give up and pay a company to fix credit? So many disputes and letters and calls and I am getting no where. We were hoping to buy house in february but the credit is just destroyed in my eyes. I have an account that was included in a bankruptcy in 2007 showing as included in bankruptcy but also paid in full/charge off. I have another credit card showing paid in full/charge off sold to another company, i have an account with chase i never had even owned reporting and they refuse to help me. I have dental insurance and never opened dental credit. Theres also a judgement i was never served for that just showed up. It was supposdly in court in 10/2013. Its weird that I disputed it and it was deleted from 2 reports but still one one. Then i have an account from enhanced recovery saying i owe cell phone bill from sprint a few years ago. i never had any outstanding charges with them and havent had the service for over 5 years now. The more I dispute the more errors are listed on reports. The amounts and dates and i am just about to give up. I mean how can the credit bureaus even report the account as paid in full/ charge off? or paid in full/collections and still tell me there are no errors.

Has anyone had any luck with credit repair? I really cannot afford a lawyer. I have also reported these companies to cfpb, AG and even BBB. Just waiting for responses still.

Re: Correcting errors and giving up

Uggg...Sounds like your file from that particular agency has been merged with someone elses. Welcome to credit hell. Unfortunately those are one of the toughest problems to fix - because the reporting agencies DO NOT want to accept that they are the ones at fault. They ALWAYS want to blame the CA reporting the info. The reason being that if they admit they are the ones that screwed up they see that as possibly opening themselves up for liability.

You may have to do an end around and approach from the CA side - do DV's with them if its not your debts.

Its also possible that you may have had your identity stolen.

Re: Correcting errors and giving up

This just happened to me with Experian.  I asked them to dispute a Honda Repo from 2007.  I asked them to please remove it early.  They said that I have to wait 2 more months.  No big deal right?  Well, it turns out that they changed it from showing as settled in full in 2011 to showing as failed to pay for august 2014 and sept 2014....and my score did not like having two brand new FP within the last 60 days

Re: Correcting errors and giving up

I really believe that someone elses info is on the report.I am in credit hell and dont no where to go from here. I have dv all them and am getting no where at all. It just has them verify it and ignore my requests. I may have to call a lawyer and see what free advice i can get for now. Its crazy that they can just type up a letter so plain and say this is validation. No account #s no name or anything. i mean i can make the same letter at home. I cant believe the law allows this process to take place. we havent checked credit in several months and have 4 good standing accounts that have always been good and on time for almost 3 years so to pull reports and see all this was a shock!

Re: Correcting errors and giving up

Are you DV'ing the Collection Agencies, or are you DV'ing with the Credit Reporting Agency?

Re: Correcting errors and giving up

im afraid to take the fraud victim route. I cant get info from companies and i dont wanna freeze file or seem like a risk to future lenders. the whole process seems to be very complicated.

Re: Correcting errors and giving up

I dv'd both. First credit bureaus with no luck and then collectors with no luck. i even have filed complaints and no luck. cfpb isnt really helping at all. they allow them to respond and say they need info in writing. so i sent in writing and still no luck. the whole credit bureau process is horrible.

Declaring identity theft is simple, and clears things up fast, per FCRA 605(b), but you will need to give sworn deposition to a sworn peace officer, and the FTC affidavit to start. Seems silly to not tackle identity theft head on, and just say "I'll just dispute, and DV" as obviously your information is going to match the listed accounts on your reports.
