Hi,
My wife and I are trying to get our credit back on track after a number of setbacks. I have a couple of basic questions before I dive in just to make sure I'm starting out on the right track. Are the credit reports I receive using the $30 Advanced Plan here good? Or should I pull our initial credit reports from some where else? I ask because I see a lot of people talking about a DOFD (Date of first Delinquency) but on the reports I received (3B) there is no such date listed. Additionally a lot of info seems to be missing in general, as an example at the beginning of the report it lists an over view of things like Your oldest account was opened, your average account age, etc. On mine the only one that shows anything under these headings is Experian. There also appears to be many missing items on most of the creditors in my file. Only about half have an opened date, or a closed date, some are missing a balance of any kind and there also a few that appear to be duplicates..
Is this normal, or should I get our initial reports elsewhere and use the plan for updates? Thanks in advance!
Free or $1 you can obtain your 3 bureau FICO 8 scores and reports at Experian or CreditCheckTotal (part of Experian). Cancel in 7 day or less to avoid the re-occurring monthly charge. Wash, Rinse, and Repeat as needed.
AnnualCreditReport. Free weekly 3 bureau online reports through April 2021.
Free credit reports (disregard the VantageScore 3.0 score) at:
Credit Karma for weekly TU and EQ reports.
WalletHub for daily TU report.
When I started, I used Annual Credit Report to get my reports from all three bureaus. Those are the most complete/accurate reports that I've seen. I used those to create an excel sheet of all of my debts so I could plan and track their payments, the amounts owed, and when they'd be paid off.
I also signed up through Experian. That's $20 per month and obviously shows my Experian credit score and any report or score changes. It also gives me notification if anything changes on TransUnion or Equifax (and I get those alerts thru my bank and Credit Karma), but it only provides full reports and updated scores every 90 days. I'm good with this because I get alerted if there are any major changes to my credit report that would force me to buy one. Finally, at this stage of my rebuild I'm not really getting any surprises like that anymore (knock on wood).
Thanks! I guess it won't hurt anything to get them from the annualcreditreports site as well then and maybe they will be a bit more detailed.
Anyone happen to know why when I went to annualcreditreport.com I was able to get my Transunion and Equifax reports without issue. However my Experian report says:
A condition exists that prevents Experian from being able to accept your request at this time. To obtain your Experian annual credit report, please mail your request to the address below.
Any ideas?
