Re: Crown Jewelers

It takes a little longer for TU to show up, my understanding is around the 10th of the month.  My new CJ showed up on EX over the weekend, looking forward to seeing it on TU, too.

Depending on how late in July you made the payment, you're right, it may not show up until Sept. but unless you spent your whole CL, it will still help bring down your util. and if you can make some substantial payments to your other CC this month, then you should see a nice increase!

I, personally, don't recommend paying for more FAKOs just to see if there was any change, as that's more money spent ~ and on scores that don't mean jack, essentially.  My true FICOs are about an average of 100 points lower than my FAKOs...talk about a MAJOR LETDOWN.  I expected a difference, but 100 points?  GEESH

In my case, I didn't have ANY CC reporting, as we've not had one in a few years, this really helped me.  As with everybody, I sure wish it reported to EQ, too!

The next reporting cycle would be Sept? Bleh. lol, sucks to be me.

I appreciate the heads up, though. I'll give it a good 30 days, keep util down and hope Sept shows a great score bump when CJ is included.

Thanks, guys.

Re: Crown Jewelers

Just like WhatzUrPlan said, EX is really fast in updating but TU takes their time. It took mine until about the 10th of the month to show up on TU. I know it's difficult because patience is not one of my strong points but with the CRA's patience is what we all must cultivate in order to deal with them!

Re: Crown Jewelers

I've read on various posts here that with good accounts you can send a letter to the CRA that isn't reporting with a copy of the statement and ask them to add it. Then, they only need to verify with the OC, such as CJ. Is that true?

Re: Crown Jewelers

Well I'm not sure if that is the case but you have to also think about how will the account update. If the OC doesn't report/subscribe to that CRA then they can't update your account.

In regards to Crown Jewelers not reporting to EQ here is what I found out after I sent an email to CJ asking about it:

"As of October 2007 Equifax and its affiliate CSC is no longer accepting data from Crown Jewelers.

Crown Jewelers has been a reporting member of Equifax for nearly fifteen years yet Equifax and its Affiliate CSC has not provided any reason or notice as to why they have decided to not include our data in their credit reports.

Crown Jewelers will continue to submit data, once a month, to Trans Union and Experian."

Re: Crown Jewelers

Lets all hope that Equifax will sometime soon allow them to report. This would really help me as its my only credit limit over $300

Re: Crown Jewelers

It looks like after 6 months that my $2500 down payment-oriented account will switch to a $500 limit no-deposit account. Won't this kill my util? Is there any way to keep it as a down payment-oriented account so as to keep the high limit?

Re: Crown Jewelers

Tons of debt I have wondered the same thing.  I want to keep that $2500, and have been a little confused as to what they will do in the future.

Re: Crown Jewelers

I opened and activated my account on July 29 and the order shipped July 31.  I just pulled EX and my $2500 limit is reporting already.

Re: Crown Jewelers

won't this hurt your score some due to the new account lowering your average age, or because of it's high limit is the hit on the age covered by the lower utilization
