Hello all. Could somene please give an updated answer about opting out of pre-approved credit card offers. I visited the official website, www.optoutprescreen.com, but was just wondering if any of the moderators or administrators here could give their advice on opting out. I'm trying to build up my score. Opting out doesn't affect your FICO, right? Thanks.

Hi there.
Opting out has absolutely no impact on your score.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem".
Ditto. Zero score impact.
IMO, the best advice out there are from non-moderators because they are in the trenches and actively working on their credit in most cases. In my pre-mod days I also opted out and found that I received less offers (
) but received less credit-related offers like insurance products, offers from junk CCs, and so on. It does cut down on the mail. But more importantly, it prevents undesirables like CAs from sniffing around and looking at your CRs because CRAs won't sell your personal info while opted out. It doesn't prevent a CA from reporting, but at least they won't do so based on your credit.
i.e., it doesn't DIRECTLY impact your score, but it may prevent a junk debt organization from noticing you and then pulling some shenanigans
