Hello,
The Dept. of Education is reporting an old collection that is paid in full and has been paid for 4 years. I realize they can report but am curious why they are reporting the current status as "120+ Days Past Due". Shouldn't it be paid in full or paid as agreed or just paid. How can the account be past due if the current balance is 0. How do I go about getting this corrected? This is my only negative current status. Thanks.
Status as of 04/2006
Date Opened 05/2005
Date of Last Activity 05/2005
Largest Past Balance $241
Descriptions - Paid Collection/Student Loan
Balance $0
Current Status 102+ Days Past Due
Past Due Amount - Not Reported
If you were 120 days late when it went to collections they are allowed to report it. You are not getting dinged for the lates now, only the collection.
If you look in the balance area it should be 0.
It isn't appearing in the collection section but is appearing in the open active accounts section with a current status of 120+ days past due; so it appears that as of today I am 120+ days past due.

Does it say anywhere on the TL that you still have a balance? Is it showing open or closed? Does it show you have a payment due?
If it says collections anywhere in it, FICO is treating it as a collection. If you were late 120 days before it went to collections it can show that. Even though it is saying "current", you are not getting dinged for the lates. You are being dinged for the collection.
