So to make a long story short I missed a $25 payment on my DCU credit card last April because the app showed a zero balance due for that month and I mistakenly thought I already made the payment (I accept 100% of the blame for this by the way). DCU ended up reporting a 30 day late payment on my wife's and my credit reports and that has hindered our ability to obtain a mortgage. After calling DCU a few times it was apparent they weren't willing to budge at all on it.
So about a week or so ago I decided to try to send a goodwill letter to the CEO's office by mail and was unable to find a direct mailing address for that office. So I started looking for an email address and came up short there also. I then decided to take a shot in the dark and took the CEO's name (James Regan) and sent a goodwill letter to the address jregan@dcu.org. It turns out that was indeed the CEO's email address and I received a call from the CEO's office a few hours later. The woman I spoke with told me she was calling from the CEO's office and was polite but told me that she spoke with "management" and they told her it is unlawful to report inaccurate information on someone's credit reports so even though she understands the app showed an incorrect balance due there is nothing they can do about it.
So my question is is it pointless to make any further attempts and should I just accept this will remain on my credit reports or should I keep trying? After searching the forums I found a post about something called the saturation tecnique (https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/The-Saturation-Technique-Best-GW-adjustment-...). Is this something that is worth trying in this situation? This method talks about sending your letter to as many addresses as possible. However I can only find one mailing address for DCU. Should I send a bunch of letters to the same address addressed to different individuals (the CEO, board members, ect)? Should I send more emails to different individuals including the CEO again? The following is the email I sent to the CEO. Is there anything I should change or should I use this letter again:

Re: Member number: *******
To James Regan,
Thank you for taking a couple of minutes out of your busy day to read this letter. I’ve enjoyed my relationship with DCU since 2016.
I’m writing because I noticed your company reported a late payment in April of 2021 on the credit reports of my wife (********) and myself for our DCU credit card account. I am requesting a goodwill adjustment to remove this late payment from our TransUnion, Experian and Equifax credit reports.
Upon review of my records, I realize that I did indeed miss the payment deadline. Unfortunately, the DCU app showed a zero balance due for that month and I mistakenly thought I already made the payment. I take full responsibility for the mistake and have made sure it won’t happen again.
My wife and I are in the process of applying for a mortgage and the negative impact of the late payment could result in a denial for our loan or a much higher interest rate that could cost us a significant amount of money. If you could make the goodwill adjustment requested, I believe it will significantly improve our chances of approval and save us unnecessary costs in the process.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Name, address, phone number
Well its not against the law. Its against the agreement creditors have with the CRA's. Are you going to use DCU as your lender? Maybe they can pull some strings. Going back and looking for any succeses. Seems like 2018 was the end. If you Google "DCU GW Success" You'll see your thread already is on Google too. The spiders love this place. If the bosses office didnt work out. Dont know who will. Maybe another member may have had a way to go about it. Once a 30 passes 2 yrs. Its down to a minor ding. Good Luck.
