I had a mortgage with Chase that was opened in April of 2000. I lost my job and had a TON of late's on it in 2003. First reported late was June of 2003. Mortgage was then PIF in 2006.
I understand a "good" mortgage sticks for 10 years.
My DOFD was just over 7 years ago, 2 mths ago.
Shouldnt this be able to come off my reports now?
Did you get the account back up paid to date before you paid in full?
If you did then your lates should start to drop off one at a time 7.5 years from the date of the late and then continue to drop off each month until they are all gone... say you had 12 months of lates then 8.5 years from the date of the first late your last one would drop off and it would then show as a positive account after that.
If you never got it paid back up to date after your first one until you paid it off then you should be able to dispute it after 7.5 years and get it off (this isn't your oldest account or anything, right?)

Unfortunatly this IS my oldest account now. I know it may KILL my Aaoa, but arent a tom of late payments (120-180) days late just as bad. I agree I need to be concerned about that part, but im sure late payments on a mortgage is equally ugly.
Confused.
