The debt doesnt get wiped away with a DV even if it results in a deletion for whatever reason. If you send a timely DV it puts a C&D on the collectors until such time they validate and if its not a timely DV (within first 30 days of a collector getting the collection ex. TX) then they can choose to ignore it all together. A DV is a legal document when used properly so you would want to mail it, email is not a recognized way of legal communications. If you know its yours you may just want to move directly to the PFD. Good luck ![]()

Then you can just let it sit or pay it and switch to GW letters. If this is inside SOL I would be careful on contacting them unless you can in fact PIF immediately.
The legislative history of teh FDCPA shows that the primary intent of congress in providing the DV process of section 809 was not to compel debt validation,, it was to provide consumers with a reprieve of action collection activities until the debt collector first provided validation.
Many consumers have read into the process a requirement to respond within a certain period, and the requirment to "prove" the legitimacy of the debt.
To that extent, I understand the frustration in expectancies of a DV.
