If you're talking about student loans, in my experience, no. I was deferring for almost 10 years! I racked up 20K in interest but kept my loans in good standing thank goodness. I found the Public employee forgiveness program thru directloans, rolled them into that, and now pay 47 bucks a month! It will suck when I have to pay taxes on the money in 9 more years, tho.
