Good morning Happy,
I too have the same problem with verizon. Were you able to get it removed? If so, could you share with me what you did.
Thanks so much,
Benben
I split this post off form the original that you replied to, because it was more than a year old. ~ Mod LilMirth
I also have been having this issue with Verizon. I moved and got a new address and was told the leftover balance would be added onto the next bill on my "new" account. At the time, their bills were so difficult to decipher that I assumed it was on my next bill. I asked a Verizon CSR at the time to look up my old account to see if the balance was transferred and he couldn't find the account in their records so he said it must have been taken care because it was deleted from their records and they wouldn't have deleted it if there was a balance. Next thing you know, there is a collection on my reports. I tried disputing. I tried writing GW letters. I even offered a PFD along with all the documentation that I had. They rarely responded to anything. If they did respond, the only thing in their response was a phone number they wanted me to call or else the asked for my phone number so they could call me (which was interesting since I was still a Verizon customer but they did not have a phone number for me). Each time, I would write back saying I wanted all communication done in writing and then they would just quit responding again.
Eventually, they deleted and I thought it was over. However, a couple months later the collection showed up again, but this time it was from AFNI, who is often hired by Verizon to collect debts. I have since filed BBB complaints for Verizon and AFNI and also contacted Verizon through PlanetFeedback at the same time. They responed pretty quick this time, but, once again, their response was nothing more than asking me for a current contact number so they can call me to discuss. I just sent another request today that all communication be done in writing.
So far, I have been fighting this for a long time and have not had much luck.
Yup, I have 2 accounts listed on our reports from Verizon, two different account numbers, both for FIOS. We only have had one account, and on my credit, one account is the exact double amount owed. They state they show two accounts, both with the same info, but everything on one account is doubled. Yet they say its verified, and correct, which it is not.
I have to figure out how to handle these accounts. I plan on many letters to the FTC, BBB, and AG as well as to them through my attorney. I have disputed the one fraudulent account with the CRAs and verizon's response was to verify and add themselves to the agencies they were not reporting to. ![]()
