Hey guys, this might be a dumb question. I defaulted on a Chase Card which Midland picked up and had a default judgement against me which was settled and is reported as so. i am trying to get it set aside. Meanwhile, Midland is still reporting a delinquent chargeoff- can i dispute this since it is paid? Thanks

Can you post the TL? They can't list it as a charge-off.
A charge-off is simply an accouting measure they took at a prior point in time.
Reportinf of the CO is simply adding the information to the consumer's credit file that they determined, at that point, that the debt was unlikely to be paid, which permitted them to take other accounting measures, and thus receving a tax writeoff of the bad debt.
Taking a CO does not relieve the consumer of full obligation for the debt, either to the creditor of their heir, if the sell it.
Any subsequent paymennt of the debt does not negate that fact, and thus does not make it inaccurate or require its deletion.
Continued reporting of the CO is an "update" only as to continuing to include that information, and does not signify a new charge-off.
A dispute of a CO would usually be required to show that they were not legally permitted to have done the CO.
If the debt was seriously delinquent, that is usually basis to support a dertermination that the consumer is unlikely to pay.
Difficult to show inaccuracy in their busniess decision unless it violated some provision of law.
A dispute may have the opposite effect of hardening their willingness to grant a future GW deletion, which is the usual path to getting deletion of a reported CO.
I would advise caution in disputing the fact of their having taken a CO.
