Does this give me any leverage?

On 7/28, I paid Convergent Outsourcing for a Midland collection. It was a settlement to be marked paid in full and they agreed not to report. On 7/29, Midland updated to the CRAs as unpaid. I am going to send a direct dispute to Midland but I wasn't sure if I should describe it as knowingly reporting inaccurate info in hopes of them deleting?

Re: Does this give me any leverage?

Convergent was collecting for Midland?

If so, they have to tell Midland you settled and they may not have. Before disputing with Midland I would contact Convergent and make sure they in fact let them know,.

That was what I was wondering since it was only a day difference. I know Midland is difficult to get rid of so I was hoping for a mistake. Yes, Convergent was collecting for an open Midland account OC was Verizon.

They probably haven't been notified yet.

If they don't update in a month then I would send them a dispute.  All they have to do is update though,

I will do that. I haven't had much luck with them so I bet they will just update. Oh well, at least it is paid!
