Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

This situation is really pissing me off.  I have a HSBC Auto charge off listed on my CR.  For some odd reason they are listed twice with all of the same info.  I disputed with Experian stating that this was a duplicate account and what do you know HSBC verified it.  So im thinking to myself maybe the other HSBC account was the duplicate so I disputed that one and BEHOLD they verified and updated that one too.  How are they verifying an obvious duplicate account. I have spoken to HSBC and they have verified that I only had one account with them so I dont see how they can keep verifying both.  The duplicate that was verified and updated only added a statement stating "Account information disputed by consumer (Meets requirement of the Fair Credit Reporting Act). "  what kind of mess is that.  So now what,  HSBC could care less about my credit report and everytime I dispute they still verify the same duplicate accounts.  This is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

How did you dispute the accounts?

If you haven't already, I would try disputing by mail.  Do you have anything in writing from HSBC?  You might try writing to them first--really your dispute is with them . . .

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

I disputed through Experian.  But before I did that I called HSBC and the rep verified that I only had one account with them and told me to dispute with the CRA.  I dont know why they told me to dispute with the CRA if they were gonna verify both accounts.  Today I called HSBC again and was told that there was nothing that they could do.

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

When I asked about your method, I was asking how you did it--online, by phone, by mail.

I think you should try by mail.

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

Don't feel alone. This is happening on a friend's EX report, with HSBC as well.

You can try disputing again via mail, sending a copy of your report that list both accounts-- highlighting them and stating they are the same account.

If you do not get results then, I would send HSBC a letter stating they either report accurately as they are required to do per FCRA or you will seek all options available to you to enforce your rights under the FCRA. Include a copy of that section of your report showing both accounts.

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

So ok I sent Experian a dispute via mail for double posting of my HSBC auto account and they verified both again.  I also sent a letter to HSBC auto stating that they either report accurately as required by the FCRA  or I will enforce my rights.  Yesterday I received a letter from HSBC Auto stating ithat n order for them to investigate my claim they need all these weird forms.  I have never heard anything like this, on these forms they wanted me to print ABC's upper and lower and the other was to write ABC's in cursive upper and lower case.  Has anyone ever had to do this?  Seems alittle odd to me.

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

I forgot to mention that the correct account is scheduled to be removed in Nov09.  But the duplicate account doesnt have a scheduled removal date.  Should I just wait and see if they both fall of or would it be better to keep trying to have then remove the duplicate.

I have gotten the same ABBCDE... letter from HSBC Auto in the past. The last letter and most recent letter I received from them was not the ABCDE Letter and was a little different. stated something along the lines of this is:

Re: Experian and HSBC Auto verifying duplicate account

I have disputed the double listing of the HSBC (Orchard Bank) account by two companies. HSBC is listed and the Junk Debt Buyer is also listed. I received a letter from Orchard Bank which said that HSBC which services the account sold it to First Financial. First financial told me that they sold the account to Main Street Aquisitions who is now listed on my Credit Report as the owner of the account. The Credit Bureau has refused to remove HSBC from the listing and has said that both accounts have been verified. The FTC told me that once an account has been sold to another company then the original company must be removed from the credit file. HSBC has basically said that is not true.
