Hey Everyone,
A bit new here so please bear with me. Just wanted to share a little story of mine. First off, I'm a 24 y/o college grad working at a large corporation. Since I've started working, I've become much more responsible with my finances and trying to sort things together. I was alerted about my credit score about a year ago realizing I needed to start building some. Recently I was told I had serious delinquency on my report and I was denied a new card. I was a bit concerned about this so I received my full report from myFico. Looks like back in my college years, I had an account with the fashion store, Express. I had missed a balance of $9 on my statement one time. Late payment letters went to my home address, but since I was at college, I had no idea what was going on. Three months passed and I paid the bill (the first time I saw it). I didn't think much of it since I didn't really know about anything credit related at the time. So looking at my score, apparently I'm being severely affected due to a 90+ day late payment. This is so upsetting and I have no idea how to fix it. Especially since it was only $9 ... That's pretty lame .. I'm trying to figure out what my next steps should be. This late payment happened back in 2008 and since I just realized it, I just went ahead and closed my account. I used the card like maybe 3 times in my entire ownership and I figured it was doing more harm than help. Anyone that has any advice for me would be great. I haven't had any delinquencies besides that and my balances are doing well. I have a good salary and my student loans are being paid down appropriately. What else can I do? Thanks in advance everyone.
Kind Regards,

Hi and Welcome to the forums,
You may want to send a G W letter , asking if they would kindly delete the late payments.
Explain about the $9balance and that you were away at college at the time.
Good Luck to You![]()
Hi Lightnin,
Let me give that a shot. I'll post an update if I get to hear something from it. Thanks for the info, didn't know about a G W letter. I guess it can't hurt at worst
... Thanks again and much appreciated.
Kind Regards,
