Time for a happy dance.
Good for you, keep up the good work!!
Great Job!
Let me understand this - you called the CA, the guy was rude and would not accept your offer of 40% and hung up on you.
Then you called back and setttled for 35%, and then they deleted it, even though they said they dont do a PFD?
I would endure hearing dial tone and having to call again saving an additional 5% with a deletion any day of the week.
Well done!
They may be concerned about making any formal agreement to a PFD, as such deltions are contrary to their credit reporting agreement with the CRA.
However, once satisfied, they can delete without any statement of reason, and not raise any potential flags with the CRAs.
Deletion then clears the board of having to deal with any possible future disputes by a consumer. No reporting, no chance of dispute of accuracy........

My understanding after researching here was they are one of the hardest to actually deal with in regards to getting a negative removed. It really shocked me to get the letter saying they will delete the account from all my credit files. What made it awesome beyond belief is not only did I get what I asked for with a 40% offer but in the end I got it for about a hundred dollars less than my original offer was
Your post gave me some inspiration for my own experience with FCO. So I called once again, and got the same mantra....we can't delete if we are reporting accurate data blah blah blah..... I hung up with that person, called 5 min later and got a different spouting the same crap, hung up waited another 5 minutes called again and asked to speak to a supervisor this time and she said the exact same thing, I begged, pleaded, sang a sob story, spoke of friends I knew that they helped and actually did delete for them. Sat on the phone with her for 25 minutes and in the end she still said a big fat no. I asked for email or phone contacts for someone higher up and she wouldn't give me the info and said it didn't matter the answer would still be no.
So you are very very fortunate to have received that letter form them, I wish I could get something like that as well!
Can you share the email of the person who said they would delete the account? I need to settle and have them deleted from my reports too and I am having no such luck!!

^ yes, this. If you could share with me also, that would be a tremendous help. FCO is a big fat thorn in my side.
Congrats!
