Fair Collection and Out. FCO

So I have to share a very interesting turn of events with the community here. I called FCO for a judgement from an apartment complex here in Ohio. I tried to negotiate a PFD with them with a 40% settlement. They refused and in fact the guy hung up on me. I called back got a supervisor on the phone whom also told me they don't do PFD. So I negotiated a 35% settlement for a pay in full. Then I get a letter after paying the 35% that they are deleting the credit account from all my credit reports. Woot woot

Re: Fair Collection and Out. FCO

Great Job!

Let me understand this - you called the CA, the guy was rude and would not accept your offer of 40% and hung up on you.

Then you called back and setttled for 35%, and then they deleted it, even though they said they dont do a PFD?

I would endure hearing dial tone and having to call again saving an additional 5% with a deletion any day of the week.

Well done!

Re: Fair Collection and Out. FCO

They may be concerned about making any formal agreement to a PFD, as such deltions are contrary to their credit reporting agreement with the CRA.

However, once satisfied, they can delete without any statement of reason, and not raise any potential flags with the CRAs.

Deletion then clears the board of having to deal with any possible future disputes by a consumer.  No reporting, no chance of dispute of accuracy........

Re: Fair Collection and Out. FCO

My understanding after researching here was they are one of the hardest to actually deal with in regards to getting a negative removed. It really shocked me to get the letter saying they will delete the account from all my credit files. What made it awesome beyond belief is not only did I get what I asked for with a 40% offer but in the end I got it for about a hundred dollars less than my original offer was

Your post gave me some inspiration for my own experience with FCO. So I called once again, and got the same mantra....we can't delete if we are reporting accurate data blah blah blah..... I hung up with that person, called 5 min later and got a different spouting the same crap, hung up waited another 5 minutes called again and asked to speak to a supervisor this time and she said the exact same thing, I begged, pleaded, sang a sob story, spoke of friends I knew that they helped and actually did delete for them. Sat on the phone with her for 25 minutes and in the end she still said a big fat no. I asked for email or phone contacts for someone higher up and she wouldn't give me the info and said it didn't matter the answer would still be no.

So you are very very fortunate to have received that letter form them, I wish I could get something like that as well!

^ yes, this. If you could share with me also, that would be a tremendous help. FCO is a big fat thorn in my side.

Re: Fair Collection and Out. FCO

They are currently my toughest cookie to crack yet , I have asked and asked and disputed and disputed , I don't owe the amount they say I do, have sent my proof and still have gotten no response almost 30 days later . It is also for an apartment lease I had to break one mth early , my question for you us , you said they had a judgment against you ? Did they inform you prior to getting the judgement ,.I'm trying like hell to avoid a judgment at all cost , but I don't have the 1400 dollars they claim i owe.
