Fall off date not the same

Hello everyone!

I defaulted on a Providian charge card a few years ago.  It is listed twice on my Credit Reports, one is reported by the original creditor (WAMU/PROV) and the other is the Collection Agency.  I understand this is completely legal, my concern is, the original creditor tradeline is due to fall off in Nov of 2008 and the Credit Agency tradeline is due to fall off in May of 2009.  Is there anyway I can change the Credit Agency tradeline to coincide with the date the Original Creditor tradeline will fall off or am I just out of luck??

Re: Fall off date not the same

They may both be reporting the same DOFD.

CRTP is 7-7.5 years, sometimes the CRA leaves them for only 7 years, sometimes 7.5 years, sometimes in between, sometimes not quite 7 years.

If DOFD is Nov 2001, then both fall off dates would be ok. The May 2009 fall off date would be 7.5 years from DOFD, the Nov 2008 will be exactly 7 years.
