Faxing off DV letters

I faxed off 4 DV letters within the last week to different CA's.  I did this because I wanted the CA's to receive my letters a lot quicker, being the postal mail service out here in Iraq is extremely slow.  I am also hoping for a quicker response from them either by them emailing or faxing me back the validation.

My question is would faxing off these DV letters hold the same weight as if I had mailed these letters through Certified Postal Mail with the returned GC?

The fax shows the date/time sent, who I sent it to, and the date/time when they received it.

My only concern is them actually receiving these faxes.  Sure the fax I sent said it was received, but how can I be certain that the fax number I sent it to is still assigned to this company?  Apparently the fax number is still in service, because the fax's were received, but how do I not know they don't just take these faxes and shred them.  I got all my fax numbers from either the BBB site or their websites (if they have one).

Would these faxes still have enough push to send to the bureaus if I don't hear anything back from these CA's within the given time?  I would say yes, because these numbers were the ones they had listed and the ones I used.  I can show prove when it was sent, and when it was recieved.

But then again its their word against mine.  They can simply say their fax machine was out of paper or their fax machine was jammed.

Anyways, I also heard there is no set time for a CA to validate a DV correct?  So say I sent off a DV and waited 30 days but stilll have not heard back from them.  If I send off a letter to the bureaus with the needed information for deletion, couldn't the CA in response state that the account is in dispute and its being "investigated" without sending me anything in writing but updating the bureaus?  Couldn't this go on for months with the CA still indicating the account is in dispute just so it will stay on my credit report, without actually sending me anything?

I'm not quite sure how all this works.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Faxing off DV letters

Hi James...From what I've read, I believe they have to reply within 30 days.  I also have heard of people sending another DV after that first 30 day period.

What you might want to do is this...while the fax is a great idea to get this in the works, have your stateside friend send the DV's CMRRR as a backup.  If you hear nothing back 30 days after their receipt of the mail, as others have done, send one more as a backup.

While faxes are great, there's nothing more substantial than a paper trail.  After that second one...if you hear nothing back, send copies of all this correspondance, including the green signature cards, to the CRA's & demand a removal.

One more thing, while I haven't had to do this myself, let them know you want (I think it's called) a full media validation.  I'll try the search on that.  It is an extensive list of information that they are required to send you as validation.
