Re: Feeling defeated

I feel the same way as the OP.  So very glad I found this forum though. The replies that I've seen have been so nice and empathetic which is more than I can say for some other forums I post to while learning the ropes of credit repair. I'm sorry to piggyback on this thread but here's what happened to me today:

i contacted the OC of a medical bill for $1180 and explained to them that I had made a few payments on the account originally but had fallen behind and it was sent to a CA. I asked if there was any way they could take the debt back to their office and I'd make a $300 good faith payment today and then pay at least $100 /month until the debt was PIF by Dcember. They said they couldn't because the debt was over a year delinquent. I explained that I was working sporadically due to being in and out of the hospital and then on dialysis 3xs a week for 10 months until I got my transplant. They told me that I'd have to contact the CA to make payment arrangements. I called and made a payment and said I could pay XX a month until it was paid off. Now I'm going to STILL have this neg on my credit report because they'll prob give me HELL if I ask for a deletion once it's paid off. I goofed.

the encouragement for the OP was stellar though!

Thank you all for the encouragement. I was a tad dramatic there. I will charge forward after a break from CK, true credit and score watch for a few days. Not my forum though! Lol! It's just frustrating and I know I'm not the only one struggling! Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!

No no...its understandable. I just finished working on my husbands which is almost done. Now my credit is a diff story. But, it can be fixed.

Key word.... New Habits

Re: Feeling defeated

Bmichael, sorry to hear that! I hope you are feeling better. I don't think you goofed! Now obviously with my original post I am in no way able to give advice but once the debt is paid you should try the Hipaa process. Very odd for the OC not to take payment. In the forum we can't say anything but google hipaa process. And you can piggyback anytime!! I guess us rebuilders have to stick together.

Re: Feeling defeated

Credit repair is not a race, it can take years, I have been thru it 3 times in my life and none of it was every easy. You place all your bad accounts into groups and you attack one group at a time, trying to do it all at once is going to tire one out (I have tried that route before as well). All one can do in this game is keep trying at regular intervals while opening new accounts from creditors that will do business with you to build your credit history. I would suggest that you step back for a month or two and then go at it again but only 1 group at a time. I wish you well and good luck Smiley Happy

Re: Feeling defeated

Definitely agree with gdale. Taking a break and then working on it in groups can help especially if there's a lot of stuff to deal with. I think some of the other members have gotten great advice by posting detailed reports and getting other eyes on it to work up a plan. I think breaking it up into groups is a great idea. That's what I've done starting with 3-4 small medical collections on my report first. I'll tackle the other stuff on my report and dh's after that. I also opened up a couple of new rebuilder accts for each of us to start on the new acct part while I work on removing collections. I figure if nothing else and I can't get them removed at least with them being paid I can always still get a car/home loan once they've done a manual review and see that I've taken care of all my debt and gained good new accts and history since then. Good luck OP. It's a long hard road but there are many of us walking it with you.

Re: Feeling defeated

Just thought I'd share a few updates. Experian deleted my med collection! Yea! Smiley Happy super excited to see some movement. Received a response from FP on my CO GW, said the don't "usually" delete..interesting. I'll keep trying! And asset's lawyers told me they would file a dismissal with prejudice 15 days after payment, day 18 and still not filed. That is irritating. They told me I could file it but it would cost $200, ummmm I don't think so!!! You filed the suit, YOU file the dismissal! I have my satisfied in full letter so I can rest assured that no judge would rule in their favor anyway. Smiley Happy

15 "business" days after payment? I know it's frustrating, but try to remember holidays and weekends, etc. Even if it takes 30 days, it's still progress.
