First Tech & Goodwill questions/opinions

Hey all, new to the forums here, signed up because couldn't find any recent posts about this.  TIA for any help here!

First basic question is I'm just curious if anyone has had luck with a goodwill adjustment from First Tech Federal Credit Union?

Second, my situation simplified is I recently re-financed my student loan with them due to great rates, signed up for autopay but had some life **bleep** hit the fan and neglected verifying my autopay bank account so it was never activated, and then got a late payment reported to the credit agencies.  I've never had a single reported late payment in 20 years and recently got my scores over 800 and now this one late payment hit hard with a 11% score drop taking me from "excellent" to "good" so I sent them a goodwill letter asking if they might revise it.  Here's the response I got:

"Hello Bryan,
Thank you for taking the time to write in about your credit report and the late mark. I am glad to assist you as I understand the importance behind this request.
I have opened a credit report correction request as of 6/13/22.
Disclosure: Submitting this request does NOT guarantee that your dispute will be approved. The credit team will do a thorough investigation and respond to you accordingly.
However, I have submitted your request for a courtesy adjustment and forwarded your comments to our team responsible for this investigation.
You will get a letter in the mail with the Credit Department findings in 30 days. There are no courtesy corrections, though, so we must report the true and correct payment history on this loan."

Sooo am I screwed for 7 years now?  Or is this a boiler plate response where they might still help me out regardless?  Also I'm curious why he says he submitted a request for a "courtesy **adjustment**" and then says right after they do not do "courtesy **corrections**".  Is the use of adjustment vs correction significant?  Thanks again!

Well cross your fingers and hope for the best. You didnt get the sorry we have to report things accurately. So there might be a light at the end of the tunnel. Another reason I wont do auto pay. I like to control all my transactions. Not leave it up to a computer program. Got nailed 20 yrs ago and didnt win my case.

I'm sorry this happened to you...especially since you were in the 800's.  I really hope they cut you a break since you have excellent payment history otherwise.
