These companies are generally garbage and I recommend staying away from them.

Need to know more about your situation to give you a recommendation. Your income, how far behind you are, current scores, etc.

If your credit is already trashed and you're way behind, you can settle your CCs for a fraction of the balance on your own without paying for a third party's assistance.

If you're keeping current on payments and otherwise have OK credit (but too much debt) you could put yourself on a strict budget and plan to get the debt paid off.

If you're truly underwater, you may want to consult with an BK attorney.

Best thing to do is give the members a breakdown of the 60K in debt   amount owed/limit of card

Re: Freedom debt Relief

There are a lot of people here that can help. Everything those companies do, you can do. It just takes a little hard work and perseverence.

Listen to what others have said: List out your CC debts here and a general idea of your credit scores and have some of the experts on this forum give you some advice.

I agree with everyone here.  Those companies are scammers!

BTW...whatever your file looks like, believe me, no one here judges anyone.  We have all been there, or we wouldn't be here!  Folks who have never had credit issues likely don't even know these forums exist.

Re: Freedom debt Relief

I can tell you by experience as I was in the same boat as you and chose FDR to help me at the time. I knew nothing about these boards nor did I know anything about the true effect of having them do what they did and the effect it has caused.

First off, they tell you not to pay anyone anything anymore. They tell you that in order for the creditors to want to settle that you need to be behind in payments. All your accounts will goto 30, 60, 90 and the CO status. They do not settle all the accounts at one time. They wait til you got enough money in their bank before negotiating with any of them and will do one at a time. By then you go into collections with almost every account so you have double the derrogatory marks on your credit reports. My score was 620 when I signed with them, but was current with every creditor I had. My scores were low because I maxxed every card out to the fullest to make it. If I had known then what I know now I would definately not had used them and be in a much better position today.

Best thing I can recommend is to start paying off the smaller amounts with any extra cash you may have. It will take time, but will not nearly be as damaging by using their services. They will negotiate the debts and settle for roughly for 50% of what you owe, but the effects of having do that is far worse than the good it does.
