Thank you very much for the info on this. Where did you send the letter to? Did you fax it or mail it?
I faxed to 1-800-308-6976.

@Anonymous wrote:It never hurts to try. In my case I am about 8 months out from the 7 year mark on my Capital One charge off and since I now have current accounts with them I called to try to get an early deletion, the first rep transferred me to some type of specialist and she told me that they do not do early deletions. I may try again next month. I definitely do not want to discourage you from trying, I just wanted to give you my experience. What will asking cost you? Nothing!! Worst they can say is no.
For those of you trying to get goodwill from Capital One I can tell you there is hope. I called two weeks ago and got the same reply from a rep that they do not do deletions. From what I gather in my experience that is correct unless someone else that has had success with phone calls. disagrees. No one you can call is capable of doing this. I tried a last week and spoke to a Customer Service rep that told me Capital One has a department that handles these request but there is no way to speak with them. It's called Cap One Credit Bureaus Resolutions. She recommended that I send a fax with my GW request and they would either call back asking for more information, send a letter with their decision, or just delete the TL. We'll yesterday I opened my mail box and two letters were waiting with the following on them " We agree that there is incorrect infrormation on your credit report, so we asked the credit bureaus to remove this account from your credit report". I was ecstatic!!!! I didnt dipute I just sent a heart felt letter and they deleted them. One was a charge off and the other was closed reporting a ton of lates. Both over fives years old.
On the letters there are seperate numbers to contact if I have questions. 1-800-345-9211 and 1-800-388-5333 try this and hopefully it works for you all.
This gives me some hope. Thanks for the information. I will send them a letter and see how it goes. Any chance you can share your letter with us in order for us to get an idea of what may persuade them to give some good will? I was going to wait 6 months from when I opened my new accounts with them in order to show a stable relationship before requesting any GW from them as I also have some SLs in default that are in rehab right now. I'd like to ensure that once the rehab is done, all other baddies are resolved as well.
What is the fax number? Capital One is a tough cookie to crack.

Here you go. Everyone will have a different experience so there is guaranteed success by trying this.
Everyone...I recommend that you call first and confirm that number would work for your specific account. If your account was from another creditor that was purchased by capital one this may not be the correct number for you. When you call be polite and start the conversation with some personal topics. You must softened them up before you even begin to ask for deletion, goodwill etc.
Whenever I call I always try to make the person feel as if I know how much they have to put up with daily on calls ad commend them on what must be excellent patience. I do have a talent to be convincing which helps :-)
To Whom It May Concern:
I have been a loyal card member of Capital One for many years and couldn’t be happier with my decision to join the Capital One Family. You’ve always offered some of the most competitive rates and rewards programs and have always provided excellent customer service.
Unfortunately, in 2009 and 2010, I took advantage of our relationship and failed to submit my monthly payments on time. June, September and October of 2009 was an exceptionally stressful time in my life as I was balancing graduating college, moving, and dealing with personal tragedy. May of 2010 was another stressful time as I was dealing with my fathers diagnoses of early alzheimer's disease and the cost of his care fell on my shoulders. I fully respected my obligations to Capital One and repaid every penny I owe and am now working diligently to amend my relationship with you and regain your trust.
Recently, I have begun the search for a home and it has come to my attention that the account I previously held may negatively affect my chances of obtaining competitive financing. As you may know, FICO scores and credit history are being used more and more in the mortgage lending industry.
I know this will fall off my credit report automatically, but in light of my renewed focus and demonstrated commitment to rebuilding trust with your company, I am requesting that you give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by deleting the late payments as reported on my three major credit bureau files (Experian, TransUnion, & Equifax). I sincerely hope Capital One believes in their customers and I humbly request your consideration to allow me to pursue the house of my dreams. I appreciate your time and hope for a gesture of goodwill and to continue doing business with Capital One.
Below I have included my account number and contact information should you need to gather more information.
Regards,
