Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

Hi,

So I want to join NFCU because I've heard they're great for rebuilds. When I was on their site I noticed they have a $50 referral bonus so I wanted to see if anyone wanted to refer me just PM me.

Thanks!

Re: Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

I'm a new member here BUT I have been lurking for awhile....

I just recently join NFCU myself. And I will say WOW it is definitely worth it.

1. Promotion or not NFCU is hard to get into. A referral WILL NOT get you in like that.

Follow the steps outlined to join NFCU by way of NLSD (navy league SAN DEIGO CHAPTER) It works.
I know because that's how I joined.

2. DO NOT follow what others have stated on applying for credit as soon as you are approved for membership.

3. Setup checking AND DIRECT DEPOSIT FIRST. Your odds of getting approved will greatly increase of you have mucho baddies.

- I applied for CLOC (navcheck) and 3 CCs. I was debied, even after asking for a Recon.this was before I setup direct deposit.

- after setting up direct deposit I reapplied for CLOC and was approved for 1k.(which is what I asked for)
- then just 3 weeks(today) later I was emailed a promotion for a cash rewards card. APPROVED for 1,900.

These are my biggest approvals to date and my scores are LOW faiko EX 552 EQ 529 TU 629

Hope this helps

This is very encouraging.  How long did you have your DD before you applied for the CLOC? I had my first DD last week, but I'm not depositing all my check, just $500 which is then going into a MM for emergency savings.

I was denied a CC at membership, and I haven't wanted to apply for anything else until I thought it would be accepted.  My FAKO and FICOs are a  bit higher than yours (620-650), but I hate to waste a pull for another denial.

Re: Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

I have only been a member less than a month so I say 3 weeks Of DD and you should be good. And I'm not depositing my entire check with them either so no worries there.

Apply for a CLOC for 5k or less and you shouldn't have a problem getting that.

Re: Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

I second the Navy League method. Navy is very selective on eho you can sponsor. Basically only immediate family and housemates.

I wasn't asking for a sponsor I was asking for a referral just for the bonus.

Re: Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

To be clear the promotion is a referral bonus to eligible non-members, and the referral can come from anyone. It is not the same as sponsorship.

This month, refer up to five eligible friends and family for membership, and when they join, you'll each get $50.1 Invite friends and family to join today by directing them to any of our options to apply for membership:

To help those you refer fully complete the referral, please provide them with:

  • your name
  • your Access Number

1Offer valid between 9/1/2016 and 9/30/2016 and can expire anytime without prior notice. Any current Navy Federal Credit Union member 18 or older and in good standing may be a referring member. Recipient is solely responsible for any personal tax liability arising out of the acceptance of this incentive. This offer may not be combined with any other new-member offers at the time of the account opening. Referees must be eligible to join. Accounts must be in good standing for credits to be processed. Recruiters are not eligible to refer recruits. $5 minimum balance is required to open and maintain savings account and to obtain bonus. If you have not funded your new membership savings account at the time the bonus is credited, we will hold the minimum $5 share required for your membership. Annual Percentage Yield (APY) 0.25%, effective 8/1/2016. Bonus deposited within 14 business days of account opening. Program must be mentioned at time of joining for account to be credited. Fees may reduce earnings, and rates may change. Limit five referrals per member. Navy Federal employees and their immediate family are not eligible to participate in this program. Re: Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

Thanks for the clarification lowkey. Yes, I wasn't asking for a sponsorship I was asking for a person to give a referral so they could get $50 and vice Versa. I already had someone PM me and am using them for the referral.

Re: Getting in with NFCU for Rebuild

So let me get this straight...ANYONE can join during this month IF they have a referral. Ie: the person wasn't eligible before (non military/not family/ not DOD contracter)??
