HELP with report confusion

When I look at my TU report on CCT it shows my CO for a Capital One Credit Card account and then a closed collection account with CapitalOne Bank USA for that CO account. But when looking at my TU report on Credit Karma it doesn't show the Capital One Bank USA collection account at all?!? Its only on the CCT. Capital One is deleting my CO from my report and I asked the woman about the Capital One Bank USA collection account and she confirmed yes that is their internal collection agency BUT she couldn't see it anywhere on my report. So why it is popping up on my CCT but not my CK and she can't see it either. So lost.. I want to make sure it gets deleted too.

Re: HELP with report confusion

I would separately contact their internal collection department and ask about their reporting.

If they dont see it and are also willing to delete upon payment, then you might offer to send them a copy of your credit report.

As a side note, collections are reported by debt collectors.

Reorting by an OC that they have referred the debt to their internal collection department does not make their collection department a debt collector under the FDCPA unless they are using a name in their collection that leads others to believe they are a party other than the OC.

They are using the name of the OC, so it is questionable as to whether their reporting should even be showing as a collection in your credti report.

You might as them when you call to explain how they are reporting as a debt collector.......

Re: HELP with report confusion

After digging some I found out that it's Portfolio Recovery. I googled the address supplied and it popped up as them. If its portfolio how come its listed as CapitalOne Bank USA and can they do that? Here's a picture I took of it so you can see. http://tinypic.com/r/33aqxbl/9

Re: HELP with report confusion

That appears to be reporting under the OC account, with the reference to "Collection" being a statement that they have referred the debt for collection, not that it is their reporitng as a debt collector.

Reporting by debt collectors is entered into and retained in an entirely separate portion of the consumer's credit file, called the "K-Segment."

I would advise contacting the CRA and determining whether the referenced reporting is considered reporting by the OC, which is entered into the "Base Segment" of your credit file.  I suspect it is the later.
