Has anyone ever had a PFD with First National Collection (Directv)?

Before I came across these boards, I negotiated a PFD over the phone with First National Collection (I know, I know). The manager I spoke with told me that it would take about 60-90 days for the debt to be deleted. I called a few days ago and after searching through the account notes, the rep told me that it was sent for deletion, but it had only been 56 days. It sounds fishy, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had successful results with them.

Some notes that may be helpful:

1. Within 3 weeks of me paying the debt it went from being open to closed/paid on my credit bureau, so their reporting doesn't take 60-90 days. Why would a delete take longer?

2. I spoke with a rep from Equifax and he said that if a company requests a deletion, it happens almost immediately. This is consistent with my recent GW success with Chase. Within 72 hours of the Chase rep saying they would delete their tradeline, it was erased from my credit report. Is it different for different companies?

3. I requested a letter from First National stating that they were going to be deleting their tradeline, but they would only send me  paid letter.

What's my recourse, if any, if it's not deleted after 90 days?

Re: Has anyone ever had a PFD with First National Collection (Directv)?

It's interesting you noted Chase being quick with this sort of thing for you. A friend of mine had an issue with Chase spouting the 60-90 day schmaltz for a paid account and finally 6 months later it was finally updated.

Basically, it sounds like you're getting the run-around. If they're not willing to put it in writing then they probably have no intention of having the account deleted. As you noted, they updated the account to paid/closed after you paid the account--that would have been when I would have expected to see the account deleted. It doesn't take longer to delete an account than to update it.

My suggestion involves filing a grievance with the BBB and possibly your state's attorney general's office. That should get the collection agency's attention.
