Okay so back in 2008 we moved out of military housing and had damages amounting to 1000.00. I paid 225 that day, and set up 3 monthly installments which came out of my husband's pay (3 payments of 225 nov, dec and jan) apparently they never credited the cash payement because they don't ACCEPT cash (i think a crooked jerk there took advantage of me because my husband just deployed and i had a newborn and toddler and just wanted to move back to my mom and dad's house! So the housing place turned it over to collections...well on our CR it showed we still owed the FULL amount, I called the housing place, hopeing they actually DID have the 230 payment and it was a mistake that they turned it over to a CA. (no mistake we owe the 230, however, it was incorrectly sent to the CA for the wrong amount and she emailed the CA to have the update the actual true balance. Well I tried to ask if they could re-call the debt and let me pay them- NOPE- once they send to CA they won't recall it...okay fine, well they also can't find the original contract (nor do I have a copy of it due to moving 5 times since that time!) So what should i do? Do i DV the CA? or do I PIF/PFD the CA? The CA called an left a message and I haven't called back yet because #1 I don't have the money this week to pay and #2 I wondered if I could get out of it since no one can find where i actually OWE the money???? Then again i know i paid but without the proof i'm kinda screwed here! I just want it deleted and to be done with it!
If it was withheld from his pay see if you can get in touch with DFAS and pull archived LES's. There would be your record of payment.
Hubby is trying to do that now (takes a bit) however, they are only seeing the 3 months of payment and do not count the very first payment (paid in cash which was my first mistake) because they are saying they do not accept cash payments! That's why i think the guy who set up the allotment with me swindled me, had me pay cash and pocketed it grrrr
Ahhhh gotcha. Grrrrrr indeed. Good luck!
