Hello All,
I have lurked forever on the boards but never asked a question before. SOrry if this has been asked elsewhere. I have a medical bill on my report that went to collections some time ago. I want to pay it off but CK says paying it and having it show as paid in full will raise my score more than if I pay it and have it removed. My mid score now is around 800 currently. Besides this, I have never made a late payment on anything and usually PIF every month. I have a good credit mix. Any suggestions???? It doesn't make sense to me that having it totally removed like it never happened wouldn't be better than having it remain but paid in full.
Thanks for all the great help this site provides.
Ignore those CK estimates. They're very inaccurate. Your thinking is absolutely correct.
Try to get it removed if you can using the following steps:
@gdale6 wrote:1. Call the OC and see if insurance can be billed, (or-rebilled), collections ultimately paid by insurance get removed per new rules that came from CRAs settlement with 22 state AGs. If not then
2. see if you qualify for Charity Care, if not then
3. ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
4. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
5. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help, this process cannot be discussed in any forum of myFico.
ANd this is why I love this site. Thank you for the tips.
