Help!! Utility Chargeoff randomly removed and denied PFD

Hi everyone, I sent PFD letter to a utility company. They responded saying that they would update the chargeoff as "closed" and "paid in full" but no deletion. A few days later Transunion (only bureau it reported to since last year) notified me that it was removed. I'm confused. I don't understand why it is removed if they said they can't deleted. On top of that, they haven't received a payment. Are they going to put it back on. Oh and in the letter, they told my to pay 244 when the chargeoff on my report showed a balance of 212.

Maybe the removed it with the intent of selling it to a CA. If I were you I'd call the utility company to see what the status is and if it's waiting to be sold then pay immediately to avoid the sell/transfer and avoid reporting again.

If I call them and pay it immediately, will they report it again?

No they shouldn't, but maybe see if there's some kind of way you can get that in writing, whether it's an email, letter or something. But most likely they won't re-report if it's paid prior to reporting again.

Try to get theri oral agreement not to report if you pay.

I would not push too hard or insist upon written confirmation, as you are requesting a favor.

Thank you everyone for your response! I just got off the phone with the ulitity company's legal supervisor and asked the status of the charge off. She said its with NCOS collection agency since October 2015. They never reported to the credit bureaus. She told me I can pay it now and they will report info to collection agency or I can contact them directly. What should I do? Can the utility company report the charge off again? Was it deleted maybe because of the difference in the balance? Report saying 212.00 and they sending letter saying 244.00? I don't know what to do next.
