I logged in to my monitoring account after getting an alert, only to find that my Experian score had dropped 20 points and my Equifax score has dropped 13 points and I don't quite understand why. I've been working so hard on boosting my scores so this feels like such a big set back to me. From what you see in the picture, can anyone offer any insight as to why this would make my scores drop? This item has been in dispute since 4/29 and the dispute was regarding a couple of old late payments that I disagreed with. Nothing in this alert refers to it. When I called they said it was still pending.
Account is in Dispute and the Balance Owed increased from a glance.
balance went up a dollar? Thats just crazy!
I dont think anyone outside of FICO knows how the disputes affect score, I had some hurt me and others help.
The balance increase definelty looks suspect to me. Think about it, a balance increase on an account would *seemingly* imply nonpayment and /or additional credit line use?

I thought the same thing about that dollar increase! I feel like I just can't get ahead in this credit score game.
It's possible that the account being in dispute has causes FICO to exclude it and your AAoA dropped.

My understanding is that SL in deferrment still acrue interest, though a dollar change is kind of odd. Possibly the result of rounding - perhaps they left off the change in previous reporting.
But I doubt thats the reason for the drop - more likely is the dispute flag.

My question is why are you disputing a positive tradeline?

I think both Deferrment and Forebearance mixed with Dispute would indicate inability to pay for ***some*** reason which would be viewed negatively no?
