Help, got some questions.

Hello, new here and have a dew questions. I got creditwatch from here and was looking at my report. All the creditors on my report do not have a contact so wanted to try GW and see if it could help on some. But some accounts were sold, so I dont know who to send them too. Also how do i know if i paid the cc company directly or an agency. When i paid some of these accounts i didnt keep anything (stupid i know). Here the accounts i have and looking for advice.
First premier bank. Closed account paid for less than full

Crdt first- just says charge under description

Lvnvfunding- collection account still open im guessing balance $540

Credit one bank balance $540 charge off/account transferred or closed

BofA- largest balance $4,029. Account paid off for less than full

Re: Help, got some questions.

If the account was sold to a CA, do I send the letter the the CA or the original account holder. Also i dont have any account number information and nothing shows on the report from myfico.

Re: Help, got some questions.

I had the same issue when I first started, no account numbers, phone numbers, etc. Your best bet for all of that information is to pull your actual credit report. You get one free from each bureau each year, so if you haven't pulled one in a year, do that. Otherwise you can by one for 10 bucks ish directly from the credit bureau.

Re: Help, got some questions.

Ok, im gonna pull one from all 3 of them. The pull wont hurt my score right? Also of the OC sold the account, i can no longer send thdm a letter? Lastly my bofa cc was my oldest account. Would a GW hurt me more than help?

Re: Help, got some questions.

First, make sure you pull the actual credit report, either from annualcreditreport.com for your yearly free version or from the actual credit bureau. And no, pulling your report won't affect your score. Second, you would send the GW letter to whoever is reporting it on your CR. Lastly, with all the accounts paid already, sending a GW to BofA won't hurt you, either long or short term.

Re: Help, got some questions.

Well, unless you have already pulled them in the last year, they are provided free at annualcreditreport.com. Otherwise getting them from the bureau is best. As far as where to send the letter, if the original creditor sold the account to a collection agency and you paid the CA, and the CA is reporting, then that's where the letter goes. Who is the one with the entry on your report, the OC or the CA?

Re: Help, got some questions.

The OC cannot remove a CA account.  Especially since they no longer own the debt.  If they did own it, it would be possible to have the debt recalled from the CA.
