Help with Authorized User Collections on my report

I am writing to see what if anything can be done to help me. I have a couple of accounts that I was the authorized user on from my grand father. He passed away on 6/30/10. He did not have an estate so the credit cards went unpaid. I just applied for a car loan and the two accounts that I am authorized user on are showing up as deliquent on my CR. How do I get this removed from my report. Since I am not contractually liable for the debts what should I do? Do I have to do a Paid for Delete or is there another option I can try? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Eleasha

I've seen posts that recommend calling the OC and asking them for you to be removed as an AU. I disputed an AU account through the CRA where I had lost all contact with the accounts owner. I am sure others will post some advice as well soon.

I would dispute.  That's easily done online, these are not your liability and you have no obligation to pay them off.  Also tell whoever is offering you the car loan the situation, they should beable to see past that.  If not, take your business elsewhere.  You'll also get a better deal through a credit union or your own bank than through a dealer unless you qualify for the manufacturer's 0% bank.
