Help with Validation Letter

Hello All, Great forum! I am sending out tis Validation letter to a CA about a debt they claim I owe. I have knowledge of this account it is from NY and I have not lived, worked or visited NY in well over 10 years. Here is a copy of the letter I am going to send. I took bits and pieces from here and there. Is this a good format? This letter is being sent to you in response to a notice sent to me on June 1, 2008. I request that you validate this debt. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested. This is NOT a request for “verification” or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you. Please provide me with the following: 1. Name and address of the original creditor, and the original account number 2. A complete account history, including, all statements, records of all activity, payments, collection attempts and any charges added for collection activity 3. A copy of the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your offices to my home, cell phone or to my place of employment. All future communications with me must be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS. You have thirty (30) days from receipt of this notice to respond. Your failure to respond will work as a waiver to any and all of your claims in this matter and that this matter is permanently closed. Your anticipated cooperation in this regard is greatly appreciated. Sincerely,

Re: Help with Validation Letter

Keep in mind that it doesn't mean anything that you do not live in NY anymore......They can use the SOL from the state were you live now OR where you applied for the credit.

what is your SOL?   is this a CC?  what is the DOFD/DOLA??

The letter sounds good to me. But always keep in mind the SOL!
