Help!

There was a $42 medical collection from First Point collection agency on my Eq credit report earlier this year. I had no clue what it was, never received a bill or anything. So I disputed it, and it was deleted.
I just found out what the bill was for after researching my info. Anyway I just got a call from them (I did not answer, I googled the number)
If I pay the bill through the OC, will it appear on my credit report again?? That would be the absolute worse since I just got preapproved for a mortgage last week.

Re: Help!

So I did a bit of reading and apparantly collections under $100 are not factored into Fico08. Now the question is does everyone use Fico08?

Yeah, I'm freaking out!!

Re: Help!

So the collection is deleted? I would like say Google the HIPPA process... I don't think we are supposed to post it on this board but it would probably work for you. If I was you I'd PIF the OC, and that way they can't sell it to any other collection agencies. Oh and Opt out. Good luck!

Re: Help!

Yes, the collection is deleted. It only appeared on Equifax, never on any other report and has been deleted. have the info on the HIPPA process and was thinking about using it but I don't want to poke the bear.
I guess the only thing I can do at this point is pay the OC. I just don't want my paying them to force them to report.
Maybe I should send a GW requesting that they don't report it?

Re: Help!

First Point will no longer have anything to collect from you once you pay the OC. The OC never reported anything in the first place right? So a GW would not be necessary.

Re: Help!

The collection was originally on my report under First Point, so no the OC never reported anything.
Do you think there a chance that the OC can refuse the payment and direct me to pay First Point instead?

Re: Help!

IME, I received a dunning letter from a CA. I asked the hospital (who my medical bill was from),to pull back the collection. They said ok. I paid them and no one ever reported..I know it's a little different, but that's what my experience was.

Re: Help!

This actually is a medical bill also. I honestly had no clue I owed anyone anything, thought all fees were covered by my medical insurance. No one mentioned anything to me when I waddled in for my weekly prenatal appointments last year either LOL! A simple "You have a balance" would have been nice.
