Help!

Hi again,

I recently applied for mortgage and my scores were ex-617 tu-620 and eq-586. I was encouraged to apply for a cc by my mortgage specialist. I applied for 2 and got denied. Little did i know my wife would apply for me 3 more times while i was at work!!!!! That means 5 cc inquiries in a 2 day span! is this gonna hurt my chances now? Should i go for a bad CC and a secured cc to get some mix?

Re: Help!

Hi I was in a similar situation recently. Am rebuilding and had a 604. I applied for some prime cards (approx 6) and were all denied. People here suggested secured or subprime cards. I didnt have the money to secure a card and most subprime cards have ridiculous fees. I was recommended to try Credit One Bank. Applied and to my surprise approved. My scores were lower than yours, had just as many inquiries, and have some lates and charge offs in the past so nothing is guaranteed by this would be a feasible choice. There is a sign up fee and then a $5.75 monthly fee after that. I was also approved for a mastercard with household bank after that. It has similar fees. So if you dont want secured these would be my recommendations. Or there is always the secured road. But beware that some prime lenders mainly BofA and Citi that have secured cards still arent guaranteed approval. Good luck on whatever route you choose. Someone else may be along with suggestions to if you dont like the ones I opted for. Keep us posted.

Re: Help!

Prime cards will (99%) never be given unless you have nearly no baddies & certainly nothing bad reporting for several years.

I tried with BoA with the scores in my sig....Denied.  No lates for over 5 years.  No collections.  Save your inq's. for acard you're more likly to get.

Who did you & wife apply to?

Re: Help!

I'd agree...Credit one is a great starter card.  I still have mine for the age.

Re: Help!

Hi lil_joey007.   IMO you should never touch you CR for many months before applying for a mortgage!

Where did you get your scores?  No one but a creditor can pull FICO  EX scores.

What baddies are reported on your CR?
