Holy Crap! New Collection! Help

Just got a CreditKarma update that there's a new collection on my report: a $70 bill from Quest Diagnostics, apparently stemming from a routine doctor's visit earlier this year.

This comes as I complete surprise to me as I've seen zero documents in the mail about this.

What do I do?  I want this thing OFF my report.

Do I try to talk to original creditor or to the collection agency assigned to it?

I can't beleive this!

If it's legitimate, call the CA and offer a pay for delete (PFD). Medical collections, especially ones that small, are the easiest to PFD. I got one for $75 off my CR a month ago. Good luck.

Re: Holy Crap! New Collection! Help

Update: Turns out, this stems from a visit to the doctor in July 2014 when ordered some medical tests.  Somehow, my doctor had out outdated address of mine on file, so all invoices and collection notices went to that blackhole.

At first, the CA (AMCA) refused to PFD.  However, after talking to a supervisor, they finally agreed that, since it was an incorrect address, and not any delinquency on my part , that resulted in the collection, they would DELETE.

However, they said it can take 30-40 days for the deletion to appear on my credit report, which is BS.

Actually its not, if they do things manually it can take 60 days.
