Hi Everyone,
I've noticed many posts where the poster states he/she disputed with the CRA and the item in question was deleted and/or corrected "the next day" or "two days later."
My question is how are these items being disputed? Are you disputing by phone? By email? Fax? I'm only familiar with the old tried and true dispute by mail via CMRRR route.
And what if you need to provide some sort of proof, as in the DOFD date? How are you getting the CRA to delete without being able to see your proof?
I'd love some pointers from those who are getting such a quick turn around from their disputes.
Thanks,
BigTrees
I just faxed a PFD letter to TransUnion and Experian. The item was removed in 72 hours.
I sent them an explanation letter and the Promise to delete letter from the collector.

Gliguy23 and others......thanks for your prompt replies. Can anyone give me a recent FAX number for Experian? I have several numbers I've found on the board but I'd like to use a number that has been successful recently.

Hi.....I had been disputing an old item in my credit file for about 1 year (to EQ, EX and TU) when I finally decided to contact the creditor direct. I was absolutely getting nowhere with the credit bureaus. I first sent a letter to their customer service referencing the account number and my stated reasons why I thought the trade line should be deleted in my credit reports.
Two weeks after sending the letter, I got a phone call from one of the supervisors in the customer service department. I basically told him that this was a $68 dollar utility bill that had been paid in full for 5 years and it seemed a little ridiculous that they would keep reporting me as 120+ past due. I appealed to his sense of fairness and before I got off the phone with him, he said he'd take it up with his department supervisor. Low and behold, I checked my credit report the following day and within 24 hours the trade line was deleted from all three credit reports. I received a letter in the mail a week later telling me that they were submitting a Universal Data Form to all three credit bureaus to delete the trade line.
Bottom line is that pesistence is the key. I've managed to do this with two trade lines in my credit file and had them both deleted in about 24 hours after I got off the phone with the creditor.
Hope this helps.
