How do I handle this!?

I DV'ed the CA and the "law office" that calls to collect on their behalf. Debt came back with verification. I am well within the SOL and I just want this taken care of so it is find for and I never have to worry about it again. Should I attempt a PFD to the CA or just send a settlement offer to them? Also, if I pay the collection and it updates on my report, will my scores drop because of the update or does the settling/PIF not affect the scores whatsoever?

This is my last chapter in completing my rebuild and then just maintaining / building stronger relationships with current card companies. Any advice would really be awesome.

I would go the route of trying for a PFD.   They can always say no, but so can you unless you really have to pay it in order to get mortgage.  If they decline, keep trying if you can wait until they accept your offer.

Paying the CA won't help your FICO score, and shouldn't hurt it either.

Re: How do I handle this!?

The amounts only $515 so I would imagine they wouldn't sue. I just wanted to make sure a PFD was the right choice. I have only email addresses of the CA execs (CACH LLC), so do I go that route?

Email is probably ok, although if you google the company you should be able to find an address for snail mail.   Either way make sure that you get it in writing.

Re: How do I handle this!?

Would it be inappropriate to offer the PFD in 2-3 payments, or do I just offer the full amount in one shot?

And I have like 15 CACH contacts to look through to figure out who would be the best to send the PFD to. Looks like I will have to do some research.

Wow, that's great that you have that many contacts !  Hopefully one of them will bite on your offer.

I think most people usually offer a lump sum, one~time payment with PFD.   At least I think it makes the CA more likely to say no if they think they won't get your money quickly and at once.

Re: How do I handle this!?

True. My other collection I handled through the OC and the CA removed from the report (which was awesome). If that were only the case with this one, but theres no chance. Thanks for the advice and I will start digging!
