How do I recall and remove debt correctly?

Trying to get all of my ducks in a row. I have a collections account from 2016. The CA is Convergent Outsourcing, OC is Tmobile, amount is $370. I sent an email to the CEO of TMobile and got a response from a senior specialist. I plan on giving them a call, asking them to recall the debt and remove from my credit report. Just want to make sure I do it the "right" way. I plan to get any agreement in writing.

If they agree to recall the debt and take ownership back, do I wait for the proof until I pay Tmobile?

How do I ask Tmobile to remove the debt from my credit report? Do THEY do this?

Do I have to speak to convergent at all about any of this? I wish to do it all through Tmobile.

I plan to pay in full. I just want it removed from my credit report as it's dragging down my scores a bit. I want to buy a house next year. It is my only derogatory.

Thanks in advance!

If they agree to recall the debt and take ownership back, do I wait for the proof until I pay Tmobile? If T-mobile is still reporting a balance then they own it and engaged a CA to act on their behalf. You dont need the proof ahead of time many companies wont give it to you due to CRA rules but a verbal agreement to do so is sufficient. Now if T-Mobile is reporting a 0 balance then you wont be able to deal with them at all and would need to move to the CA and ask them for a PFD.

How do I ask Tmobile to remove the debt from my credit report? Do THEY do this? T-Mobile wont remove the CAs entry the removal of their collection authority compells the CA to remove their TL. If TM is reporting too they are not likely to remove their TL

How can I be sure Tmobile owns it still? It has a balance (I've never paid on it), but lists it under convergent outsourcing, with the original creditor as TMOBILE. Here is a screen grab.Screenshot_20210907-203405_Credit Karma.jpg

Re: How do I recall and remove debt correctly?

The way it looks now. The CA owns it due to balance shown. OC was TM. Go to annual credit reports and pull your free real credit reports. See if TM is anywhere on there. T-Mobile does report to credit bureaus, but only if an account has been sent to collections. If TM shows $0 balance. Then the CA owns it. If TM shows a balance then they own it and the CA is collecting on TM's behalf. Then follow what @gdale6 posted.

Make the call and see what they say. Good Luck!

This is my pulled report. I see both names. Who would own it then?Screenshot_20210909-153510_Drive.jpg

I only see Convergent. The original creditor line simply says who originally owned the debt. But it looks like Convergent bought the debt and owns it now. So T-mobile is out of the picture.

Ugh. So no way to have T-Mobile recall and take ownership back of the debt? I've seen Convergent isn't too willing to do a pay for delete deal.

It doesn't appear so, unfortunately. Is there a T-mobile entry on your reports anywhere?
